three volumes in both Arabic and English under the title Fihris Masader al-Firaq al-Islamiyyah (List of Reference Works on Islamic Sects). Another ten volumes of this work are under preparation. This project is the first of its kind on scientific and academic research of sources on Islamic sects. German orientalists like Patrick Franke had earlier critically reviewed some of these books. Although before Ziaee، the famous French orientalist Louis Masignon had worked on this topic on a limited scale، the field is ever expanding with more and more subjects being added to it every day.
