The research Abstract

This thesis treats and analyses the reformation renaissance that the Ibadits of Algeria have witnessed departing from the region of M'zab Valley and during the period of the Modern and Contemporary History; more precisely from 1157 H /1744 BC to 1382 H/1962 BC. It tries to investigate its truth، its roots، its thought، its methodology of action and its achievements. This thesis is entitled:

Landmarks of the Reformation Renaissance in the Ibadits of Algeria

The rationale of the research and its aims:

The causes for choosing the subject and its expected aims stemmed from my tendencies towards the Islamic Studies، and from my belief that the society of the Ibadits of Algeria in the Valley of M`zab region has a number of features and characteristics، and also a typical experience that is worth to be studied in order to be introduced and to present its fruits to Algeria as well as to the Islamic World. Besides، this Ibadit Society is passing through a subtle and serious period which requires it to go back to its near history، in order to study it and to understand it profoundly and also to inspire its courses and wisdoms، so as to evaluate its present and to prospect its future on its light. Furthermore، this study will present a real practical example of the Algerian society at the dawn of the intellectual and social changes، seeking a clear image of marriage، harmony and melting of its historical constituents and its future aspirations، represented in Islam، Arabic as well as Berber language and identity، and original traditions، with openness towards cotemporary era and with positive reaction with its issues and challenges.

At the same time، this study is expected to participate in analyzing a part of the Islamic nation which tries to regain its civilization renaissance، and go out of the retardation and stagnancy، so as to catch the developed and pioneer nations، and so by taking profit from its experiences، and by knowing the points of strengths and weaknesses and the points of successes and failures. Also، the research will take part in giving a true and modern image of Islam to the whole humanity، which is stumbling
