This research is a contribution to show a small part of the enormous Islamic heritage which is still preserved in the manuscripts. It consists of a realization of the Chapter on Command and Prohibition from the book The Truthful Research and Exploration of the Realities of the Secret Meanings of Justice and Fairness (Al-Ba?th al-??diq wa l- istiksh?f an ?aq?'iq asr?r ma??n? al-'adl wa l-in??f) by Ab? l-Q?sim Al-Barr?d?، a scholar of the eighth and ninth century AH.

Al-Barr?d? 's book is an elaborated explanation of the book of Justice and Fairness (Al- Adl wa l-Insaf) by Ab? Ya q?b Al-Warjal?n? (died 570 AH). He completed his explanation in two volumes and started the third one، but was unable to finish it as he died before achieving his aim (may Allah be merciful to him).

The researcher followed four main steps in the edition of the book; the first stage involved collecting the manuscripts which are related to the text under investigation. He depended on three different manuscripts of the book which are all written in North African script. The second stage involved the electronic processing of the text on computer under observation of the known rules of dictation and punctuation beside correcting the words that were in need of it. The third step was about comparing between the three manuscripts and correcting misrepresentations and alterations in some of them، as well as completing missing parts here or there. The fourth step is represented by adding subtitles for case studies and discussed topics، referring to the right place of verses in the Quran، identifying Prophetic hadith، as well as prominent figures and sects، referring quotations to their source، defining legal and linguistic expressions which need to be clarified. Scholarly comment was added where needed. The goal of all of this is to show the book as the author wanted to، far from what may have befallen it of alteration، mistakes or ambiguities. I wish I was successful in realizing the demanded target throughout this work.
