رسالة د. كهلان الخروصي
الجزء ١ · صفحة ٢٧… Another interesting feature in this short but valuable work is that it does not confine itself simply to the opinions of J~bir b. Zayd or other Ib~‡‚ scholars. It also presents other opinions، especially of 'the Kufans'، who later became represented by the ™anaf‚ school، although "there are" as Melchert points out، "severe limits to how precisely we can know when the school of Kufa became completely، by self definition، ™anafi".(1) On many occasions، a statement of J~bir is followed by another، showing a different opinion، whether it is of another Ib~‡‚ scholar، possibly a student of J~bir، or quite often of a non-Ib~‡‚. This may be seen as the forerunner of what later was known as comparative legal studies (`ilm al-khil~f) and could indicate how flexible and eager Ib~‡‚ scholars were to take into account opinions of people who did not hold Ib~‡‚ views.
