رسالة د. كهلان الخروصي
الجزء ١ · صفحة ٣٦… However، what is said here does not mean that Ib~‡‚s accept every single ˆad‚th regardless of its authenticity even if it is regarded as sound ˆad‚th by non-Ib~‡‚s.(1) It seems that J~bir doubts some traditions when they contradict the Qur|~n، as in the example of wiping one’s footwear when doing wu‡ƒ`، or if they have not been transmitted in an authentic sanad، as in the case when he was asked about a man who gets married to a woman and dies before determining her dowry. J~bir’s opinion was that she has no right to have a dowry but only her portion from his inheritance. Then somebody said to him that Ibn Mas`ƒd says that she has to have a dowry like similar women of her case. Nonetheless، J~bir denies this tradition and says: “ if we find this [transmission] from Ibn Mas`ƒd through a credible (thiqa) person we would accept it”(tradition [4])(2) .
