Objectives for preserving this site include restoring the historical and cultural site as well as using it as an economic source of income for the inhabitants who are encouraged to settle in this ancient oasis and revive their traditional industries، This inturn will help improve living standards in the town itself.

Basic Information about Bahla Fort

The fort، which includes pre-Islamic parts، is located in the town of Bahla. It is the first Omani site inscribed on the World Heritage List. It was restored in different historical periods. In 1992، the Ministry of Heritage and Culture started restoring the building with technical supervision from UNESCO. Because it is one of the biggest historical forts built with mud، completion of the restoration could take many years.
