الجزء ١ · صفحة ٢٣… The discovery of such works(1) verifies the view of the Ib~‡iyya that their thinking and indeed the whole construction of their madhhab reached a high state of maturity at a time when many leaders (Im~ms) of other schools and sects had not yet been born. Ennami rightly describes this perception by stating that:
'They [Ib~‡‚s] did not derive their law from the orthodox Sunn‚ schools because law was established before the Sunn‚ schools came into existence. When J~bir b. Zayd، the founder of the Ib~‡‚ school، died، M~lik b. Anas، the master of the M~lik‚ school، was about three years of age، and Abƒ ™an‚fa، the master of the ™anaf‚ schools was about 12 years of age.'(2)
(1) A valuable amount of early Ib~‡‚ works have been recently discovered like: Kit~b al-nik~ˆ، K. al-‰al~h and al-Ras~|il (correspondences) of J~bir b. Zayd، the treatise of Abƒ `Ubayda on al-zak~h، Mudawwanat Ab‚ Gh~nim al-Khur~s~n‚ and this work of >th~r al-Rab‚`.
