رسالة د. كهلان الخروصي
الجزء ١ · صفحة ٢٢Calder's stance appears to be due to incorrect dating on the one hand،(1) but also because of a narrow focus on the Sunn‚ world.(2) Now that a work like >th~r al-Rab‚` b. ™ab‚b is becoming available، he would surely have changed his stance.
… Apposite to this regard is the influence of this work on the study of the formation and the characteristics of Muslim schools of law other than the Sunn‚ mainstream. The image of the fiqh material and the jurisprudence of most non-Sunn‚ schools is mostly distorted in Sunn‚ sources، the ones most readily accessible. Anyone has any doubt about this may look at what people like al-Shahristan‚ and Ibn ™azm(3) say about the Ib~‡‚ principles of law. The accessibility of the >th~r al-Rab‚` b. ™ab‚b will help greatly towards the rectification of that distorted image.
